Ferrari’s first EV Luce debuts in Korea with Samsung OLED
In Ferrari Korea’s showroom in Cheongdam-dong, southern Seoul, the Luce stood as a first for a marque built on gasoline-powered supercars. Ferrari has unveiled the Luce, its first all-electric sports car, in Korea after its global debut in May.
The five-seater sends power through four electric motors, one for each wheel. With a 122-kilowatt-hour battery using high-performance nickel-manganese-cobalt cells supplied by South Korean battery maker SK On, Ferrari says the car has a maximum range of 530 kilometers. It produces 1,050 horsepower and accelerates from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 2.5 seconds.
The other headline sits inside the cabin. Samsung Display supplied four types of OLED panels: 12-inch and 12.9-inch screens built into a multilayer dashboard, a 10.1-inch panel and a 6.3-inch display for rear-seat passengers. Over around four years of development, the companies created three circular openings in the main OLED panel, each about 100 millimeters in diameter.
Ferrari developed the Luce’s design and interface with LoveFrom, the creative studio led by former Apple design chief Jony Ive and industrial designer Marc Newson. The stated aim was a minimalist exterior and interior with clean, precise forms. Ferrari Korea President Thibault Dussarrat said the model reflects what the company sees as Korean customers’ expectations: innovation, culture, lifestyle and an emotional connection to the brand.
So, concretely, Korean buyers now have a route into Ferrari’s electric line, combining a high-output four-motor powertrain with an OLED cockpit developed with Samsung Display. Ferrari Korea has begun taking orders, but customers will have to wait: deliveries in Korea are expected to begin next year.
