Wyze Indoor Cam Pan hides its lens for $39.98

A camera watching a living room can become something else in a second: a lens that folds away. Wyze’s new $39.98 Indoor Cam Pan tilts its lens down until it disappears inside the camera’s body, leaving it unable to see anything happening in the home. The camera is available through Wyze’s online store starting today.

The privacy feature sits inside a pan-and-tilt camera with a 360-degree rotation range and 103 degrees of vertical movement. Wyze says its motor is the company’s “quietest, smoothest” yet. The Indoor Cam Pan records in 2K, a step above the older $44.98 Cam Pan v3’s 1080p video, though below the 4K offered by the $59.98 Cam Pan v4.

The camera also uses AI-powered motion tracking to ignore objects such as robot vacuums, or people and pets outside customizable detection zones. Night vision and infrared LEDs keep it operating in the dark, but the recording rate drops from 20fps to 15fps in low-light conditions. A microphone and speaker can support conversations with pets or trigger a 95-decibel alarm.

Recordings can stay inside the home on a microSD card with capacity of up to 512GB. The camera also works with Wyze’s Cam Plus and Cam Unlimited subscriptions, which add AI features such as alerts describing what the camera detected.

The practical change is privacy without unplugging the device: when someone wants the camera inactive, its lens can physically leave the scene. Buyers get that safeguard, 2K video, local storage, and motion filtering at Wyze’s lower price point, while accepting reduced low-light frame rates and no outdoor rating.
