What we cover, and how
Aube is an online newspaper. It follows what leaves the laboratory, reaches production and ends up changing lives — with the numbers, the dates and the sources that go with it.
Our line
The news is very good at covering what burns, what breaks and what worries. That leaves the other half of the story: what is starting, what is working, what is being rolled out without much noise. That half is ours.
We started Aube because we love technology and what it actually brings people. We allow ourselves to dream of a better future — and to recognise it in every small everyday step forward.
The rest reads like a newspaper: facts, dates, orders of magnitude, and the list of sources at the foot of every article, each with a direct link to the original. When a step forward is still a prototype or a pilot, the maturity badge says so — a promise made in a laboratory does not carry the weight of a factory already running.
How we work
We follow the feeds publishers put out themselves: newspapers, scientific journals, press releases, open data. In several languages, and well beyond Europe and North America — batteries, solar and electric vehicles are largely a Chinese, Japanese and Korean story.
The crawler that keeps watch, and how to shut it out
An Aube article is an original text, written in French, that cross-checks several sources covering the same fact and links back to each of them. We do not republish other people’s writing: we read it, we compare it, and we write our own.
Those articles are prepared with artificial-intelligence tools — to sift the day’s reading, line sources up against each other and help with the drafting — then published under the responsibility of the publication director, who answers for them as for any signed piece.
Translations of an article into another language are machine-made too: they carry a label, and the original text stays one click away.
A free paper, and it will stay free
Reading is free: no account to create, no monthly article count to stay under. These pages call no ad network and no outside analytics tool; the privacy policy sets out, cookie by cookie, what the site stores and why.
Support opens soon: donations first. Perhaps, one day, a subscription — never to read, only for extra features. And, in future, sponsored articles, always labelled as such and always within our line. Until then, reading, commenting and passing on an article that taught you something already helps a great deal.
Who publishes Aube
The paper is published by a private individual, who is also its publication director. Their name, their address and the site’s host appear in the legal notice, readable at any time.
To write to the newsroom — a mistake to correct, a source to point us to, a question — there is one address, and someone reads it. When we get something wrong, the correction is public and dated.
