Alight switches on 101 MW Eurajoki solar park
At Eurajoki, on Finland’s west coast, two solar sites come together at a shared substation. Alight and Autoliv have now inaugurated the 101 MW park, which Alight built, owns and operates. The developer says it will generate around 100 GWh annually, equivalent to the consumption of approximately 20,000 households, making it one of Finland’s largest solar projects.
The electricity generated by the plant will be delivered to Autoliv under a long-term virtual power purchase agreement, or PPA. The agreement was first signed in April 2025 and was billed at the time as the largest in Finland’s history. Alight says long-term corporate PPAs are becoming a more common route for businesses seeking predictable energy costs; for Autoliv, the contract is part of a broader global climate strategy across its operations.
The park’s two-site layout also shaped its environmental measures. Alight says the shared substation allowed protection plans to be adapted to each location: one site includes habitat restoration and improved wetland edges, while the other features a new pond. The project received €46 million ($53.5 million) in senior debt from ABN AMRO and SEB.
Alexander Rudberg, Alight’s head of development, said the current plan is for a co-located 30 MW/60 MWh battery system to be in place in 2027. In Finland’s Satakunta region, Alight is also developing four projects totaling 360 MW of solar and 150 MW of battery storage. They are at different stages: one has a signed grid connection agreement and two have approved permits. Across Finland, the company’s solar-and-storage pipeline exceeds 1 GW.
Concretely, Eurajoki gives Autoliv access to electricity from a large new solar project through a long-term contract designed to make energy costs more predictable. For Finland, the commissioning adds to utility-scale solar capacity: 478 MW was installed in the first half of 2026, taking cumulative utility-scale capacity to 842 MW. The project brings the country closer to 1 GW of large-scale solar, but its planned battery remains a future addition; the largest operational solar project is still the 204 MW Kalanti park.
