Atmoce launches 8 kWh low-voltage home battery
A 76.5 kg battery now sits at the center of Atmoce’s residential storage push. The Netherlands-headquartered inverter and battery maker has launched the 8 kWh MS-8K-U PRO, an AC-coupled system that can deliver 5 kW to a home.
The battery uses lithium iron phosphate, or LFP, chemistry. Atmoce says its cells are designed for more than 15,000 cycles and up to 51 MWh of lifetime energy throughput. The unit also uses a semiconductor-based power conversion system, which the company says is engineered for long-term reliability and operational stability.
Its architectural choice is the clearest point of difference: the system operates below 30 Vdc, avoiding the high-voltage DC design commonly used in residential batteries. Atmoce says this extra-low-voltage approach works with several layers of electrical, thermal and system protection. The company’s claim is about the design philosophy; it is not an independent safety assessment.
The headline efficiency figures come with precise test conditions. Atmoce claims 90% AC round-trip efficiency when the battery is charged and discharged at a constant 700 W at ambient temperature, and lists 96% DC round-trip efficiency at a constant 0.2 C rate. Total harmonic current distortion is below 3%. No independent test of these figures is cited here.
So, concretely, the product is aimed at households that want a storage unit with 8 kWh of capacity and 5 kW of output, alongside flexible wall or floor installation. Its IP66 enclosure, operating range of -30 C to 55 C, noise level below 35 dB and 25-year warranty define the package. The material available here gives no price, so the practical comparison with other home batteries will depend on cost.
