Rather than resembling the mainstream tall phones approaching a 20:9 aspect ratio, it looks more like a somewhat narrow pocket book.

The diagonal is shorter, but the display area has not shrunk. Huawei compared it with a conventional 6.9-inch tall-screen flagship: the Pura X View has a display area of 114.27 square centimeters, versus 111.55 square centimeters for the other phone, giving it an advantage of about 2.4%. The reason is that the screen is suddenly wider: when watching videos horizontally, the image is closer to the common 16:9 aspect ratio; when viewing documents, comics, and web pages vertically, each line can fit more text, and images can appear larger.

The hardware specifications have also been disclosed: the phone is 6.68 millimeters thick, weighs 201 grams, and has a 7000mAh battery. Its bezels measure 1.05 millimeters on all four sides, producing a 96.1% screen-to-body ratio. But a wide screen does not bring only benefits. One-handed use and tapping across the screen may be more difficult, and it is not yet possible to determine from dimensions alone whether vertically scrolling feeds such as short videos and chat histories will display more content as a result.
华为并不是从零开始试验这种布局。2025年3月发布的Pura X首次采用6.3英寸、16:10屏幕，之后华为又在今年4月推出7.7英寸的Pura X Max。B站、抖音、小红书、华为阅读和WPS等应用已经适配宽屏界面；鸿蒙的响应式布局还会根据窗口宽度和宽高比切换内容列数、边距与工具栏位置，部分折叠屏和直板机布局可以直接复用。
Huawei is not experimenting with this layout from scratch. The Pura X, released in March 2025, was the first to use a 6.3-inch, 16:10 screen. Huawei then launched the 7.7-inch Pura X Max in April this year. Apps including Bilibili, Douyin, Xiaohongshu, Huawei Reading, and WPS have already been adapted for wide-screen interfaces. HarmonyOS’s responsive layout also switches the number of content columns, margins, and toolbar positions based on window width and aspect ratio, while some foldable- and slab-phone layouts can be reused directly.
具体来说，Pura X View把更适合阅读、漫画和横屏视频的面积带给不需要展开手机的用户，但能否让更多人接受更宽的机身，取决于常用应用是否真正利用这块空间。华为已于8月20日开启预约，门店体验预计8月28日开始；售价仍未公布，真实握持和应用表现也有待后续实测。
In practical terms, the Pura X View brings an area better suited to reading, comics, and horizontal video to users who do not need to unfold their phones, but whether more people will accept a wider handset will depend on whether commonly used apps genuinely take advantage of the extra space. Huawei opened reservations on August 20, and in-store experiences are expected to begin on August 28. Pricing has still not been announced, and real-world handling and app performance await subsequent hands-on testing.
