On August 18, Baidu's quarterly numbers put a hard figure on its AI pivot: AI-related businesses accounted for 50% of general-business revenue for a second consecutive quarter. Revenue reached 31.3 billion yuan, while AI business revenue hit 12.5 billion yuan, up 25%, according to Pandaily's account of the results.

The money is arriving first from the infrastructure beneath the chatbot layer. Baidu's AI cloud infrastructure revenue reached 7.3 billion yuan, up 50%, and GPU cloud revenue climbed 283% year over year. The company has expanded its AI cloud business into finance, autos and energy, while Kunlun Chip has delivered multiple 10,000-card P800 clusters to external customers since 2025.

The application layer is moving more slowly but is no longer theoretical. Baidu has rebuilt Wenku and Netdisk around large models and launched products including Dazi, Miaoda, Famou and Yijing. AI-feature daily penetration at Wenku and Netdisk rose 27.4 points in June, while Kuku AI office monthly active users exceeded 25 million. Application revenue reached 2.5 billion yuan in the quarter, up 3%.

And then there is the physical world. Apollo Go, Baidu's autonomous-driving business, covers 28 cities and has accumulated more than 350 million kilometers of autonomous-driving mileage. Testing is advancing in Hong Kong, London, Switzerland and Dubai, but the figures describe testing and expansion—not proof that every route or market is operating as a fully deployed service.

So what changes in practice? Baidu is building a longer AI chain: Kunlun Chip supplies computing hardware, Baidu AI Cloud delivers infrastructure, ERNIE and Wenxin provide models, and applications bring them to workers and consumers. For customers, that means more of the stack can come from one provider; for Baidu, the revenue is spreading beyond search. The company still describes Wenxin's return to AI's top tier as a target, and management's planned Hong Kong primary listing by year-end remains a plan, not a completed event.
