At the charging station, the Suzuki Across gets a noticeable boost: The new generation accepts three-phase AC at up to 11 kW and can draw DC power at 50 kW. The previous model managed a maximum of just 6.6 kW on a single phase and, in Germany, usually used no more than 4.6 kW because of restrictions on phase imbalance. The next generation of the plug-in hybrid launches in October.
Beim Grundprinzip ändert Suzuki wenig. Der Across übernimmt nahezu alles vom Toyota RAV4, auch den leistungsverzweigten Hybridantrieb. Vorn arbeiten ein Elektromotor mit 150 kW und ein Verbrenner mit 105 kW, hinten kommt ein weiterer Elektromotor mit bis zu 40 kW hinzu. Zusammen ergibt das eine Systemleistung von 227 kW; bei 180 km/h wird die Höchstgeschwindigkeit abgeregelt.
Suzuki is making few changes to the basic concept. The Across takes almost everything from the Toyota RAV4, including its power-split hybrid drive. At the front, a 150-kW electric motor works alongside a 105-kW combustion engine; another electric motor producing up to 40 kW is fitted at the rear. Together, they deliver 227 kW of system output; the top speed is electronically limited to 180 km/h.
Die 22,7-kWh-Batterie soll dem SUV nach dem WLTP, dem einheitlichen europäischen Testzyklus, 129 km elektrische Reichweite ermöglichen. Suzuki nennt für den elektrischen Betrieb 16,3 kWh Verbrauch. Bei entladener Batterie werden im WLTP 5,4 Liter Benzin angegeben. Eine Ladezeit veröffentlicht der Hersteller nicht, und die genannten Werte sind zunächst Herstellerangaben.
The 22.7-kWh battery is expected to give the SUV 129 km of electric range according to the WLTP, the standardised European test cycle. Suzuki cites consumption of 16.3 kWh for electric operation. With the battery depleted, the WLTP figure is 5.4 litres of petrol. The manufacturer does not publish a charging time, and the stated figures are initially manufacturer claims.
Konkret heißt das: Für Fahrten innerhalb der elektrischen Reichweite kann der Across ohne Benzin auskommen, während das schnellere Laden längere Ladepausen verkürzen dürfte. Ob die 129 km im Alltag erreicht werden, müssen unabhängige Tests zeigen. Der technische Fortschritt kommt allerdings mit einem klaren Paket: Ausstattung und Antrieb sind nicht konfigurierbar, der Listenpreis liegt bei 55.490 Euro; Metallic-Lack kann weitere 990 Euro kosten.
In practical terms, this means the Across can run without petrol for journeys within its electric range, while faster charging should shorten longer charging stops. Independent tests will have to show whether the 129 km can be achieved in everyday use. The technical progress does, however, come as part of a clearly defined package: the equipment and powertrain cannot be configured, and the list price is €55,490; metallic paint can cost an additional €990.
Der Marktstart fällt auf ein Modell, das bislang nur wenige Käufer fand: Zwischen Herbst 2020 und Ende 2025 wurden in Deutschland weniger als 1500 Across erstmals zugelassen. The market launch is for a model that has so far attracted few buyers: Between autumn 2020 and the end of 2025, fewer than 1,500 Across were registered for the first time in Germany. Suzuki is nevertheless once again betting on the combination of SUV, Toyota hybrid technology and a long electric range. The higher charging power is the specific change most likely to be noticed immediately in daily use.
