Samsung announces 1,100Hz gaming monitor

At Gamescom, Samsung showed a gaming monitor built around a number that sounds more like a benchmark than a living-room setting: 1,100Hz. The 27-inch Odyssey G6 G60H, an upcoming display with an IPS-based panel and a 1ms response time, reaches that refresh rate only at 1080p; its native 1440p mode runs at 600Hz.

That is a small increase over the 1,040Hz specification Samsung announced at CES 2026. The company has not announced a price or an exact launch date, but says the G6 will be globally available by the end of 2026. LG’s 1,000Hz UltraGear monitor is expected to ship in September, giving Samsung a nearby comparison point in the race for headline refresh rates.

Samsung also previewed its 2027 Odyssey OLED range. The 49-inch OLED G9 offers 360Hz at 5120 x 1440, or 720Hz when switched to 2560 x 720 dual HD mode. It adds a stated 0.03ms response time and peak brightness of up to 1,300 nits. The 32-inch OLED G8 offers UHD at 360Hz, QHD at 520Hz and FHD at 680Hz, while the 42-inch OLED G7 combines 4K, 165Hz and 1000R curvature.

So what changes for players? They get more choice between image detail and motion speed, especially in games where high frame rates are the priority. But the payoff from refresh rates above 1,000Hz is still debated; Samsung’s announcement supplies specifications, not proof that users will clearly perceive the extra speed. Availability for the 2027 models will vary by market, and Samsung has not published their prices or launch dates.
