A fingerprint scan, an NFC card, or a palm-vein recognition check could replace a traditional key at a European front door. SwitchBot has launched the Lock Ultra Max Vision Pro Combo, offering up to 19 ways to unlock and multi-user entry.

The bundle costs €339.99 / £339.99 (about $395) and includes the new Lock Ultra Max, the Keypad Vision Pro and the Hub Mini Matter. That makes it pricier than the $249.99 Lock Ultra Vision SwitchBot launched last year.

The retrofit approach targets the lock hardware already found in European homes. SwitchBot says the Lock Ultra Max supports 99 percent of European locks, including common EU profile cylinders, knob cylinders, Swiss round cylinders and UK oval cylinders. Additional adapters are available for “less common installations.”

The hardware also brings a more powerful motor, according to SwitchBot. It provides more than 9 kilograms of turning force and reaches 160rpm3.2x the rotation speed of the older SwitchBot Lock Ultra.

For a household, the practical change is choice: different users can enter with a fingerprint, passcode, NFC card, face or palm-vein recognition, while remote, voice, smartwatch and app-widget controls cover situations where nobody uses a physical key. The trade-off is the higher price, and the compatibility, force and speed figures remain SwitchBot’s claims.
