Figure 03 Endurance Test Enters Day 9 on Treadmill

On a treadmill belt, a humanoid robot keeps up a slow walk. Brett Adcock, CEO of US robotics startup Figure AI, posted a video of the long walk on X on October 19. The robot Figure 03 walked nine consecutive days, recording about 560 km and 1.2 million steps, and the test is still not finished.
Adcock explained that the test was, from the start, more of a side project to find failures than anything else. Having a machine repeat the same motions over and over reveals where the joints and drive systems, meaning the motors and other parts that produce movement, tire first. Adcock's remarks were brief: “Let's see how long it can last.”
Figure 03 was unveiled on October 9, 2025, and was reportedly designed for use in factories and homes, according to the German IT outlet Heise. The test equipment was an ordinary fitness treadmill. Heise reported that the robot walked at a leisurely pace and added that, based on the stated distance and time, the speed works out to about 2.6 km/h. That figure is Heise's own calculation.
Much remains unconfirmed. The robot was tethered to an external power cable, and Humanoids Daily noted that the test does not show how long the robot can run on a single battery charge. Adcock has not published detailed test procedures or maintenance and intervention records. Interesting Engineering pointed out that it is unclear whether a single robot completed the entire distance. It is also not known whether any failures occurred during the test.
So the video does not immediately change life on factory floors or in homes. What it does change is that there is now a basis for assessing how long robot hardware can be expected to last. For that basis to be useful, the test must be completed, and the points of failure and maintenance records must be made public. One website reported that in May 2026 Figure ran a live stream of about 200 hours of parcel sorting, with several robots working in shifts and each recharging between them. Data linking that work to this test has not yet been released.
