Gemini helps on the Pixel 11 Pro as a lab feature

When looking for a setting on a smartphone, users can quickly end up navigating long menus. Google is therefore testing “Device Help”: on the Pixel 11 Pro, the Gemini feature can answer questions by voice or text and adjust device settings directly.

The offering is currently available as a lab feature in the Gemini app. Google employee Minhaz A V confirmed the deeper connection between Gemini and Android; it had previously been discovered by 9to5Google. The approach targets the more than 300 settings that an Android smartphone typically offers, according to Google.

Device Help can change display brightness, battery saver, “Do Not Disturb”, sounds and vibration, as well as network options. The AI is intended to help troubleshoot rapid battery drain, full storage or incorrectly delivered notifications. Users can also ask about the app consuming the most power, storage usage, battery health and app permissions.

In concrete terms: users no longer need to know which submenu hides a particular feature. A question about the biggest power consumer, for example, can lead directly to an understandable answer; anyone looking to optimize or personalize their device also gets explanations of how to use it.

The test is still tightly limited, however. Device Help currently appears to require Android 17 and Gemini 3.7 Flash and to be available only on the Pixel 11 Pro. Google wants to bring the feature to additional devices in the longer term, but has not named either a schedule or the manufacturers involved.
