JMGO projector brings 4K 120Hz and 6,500 ISO lumens

At a desk, a living-room table or a sports-viewing setup, projector placement is often the first compromise. JMGO’s Iris Ultra Max attacks that problem with a motorized pan-and-tilt mount — a gimbal that moves the projector — while adding 4K at 120Hz and a triple-laser light engine rated at 6,500 ISO lumens. The model is now available outside China, with preorders starting at $2,999.

Its headline contrast claim comes from two physical apertures, or irises, placed at different points in the internal optical path. By controlling light scatter and brightness in two locations rather than one, JMGO says the system reaches 10,000:1 native contrast. The figure is the company’s claim, not an independent measurement.

The placement hardware is unusually extensive for an all-in-one projector. A 0.88–1.7:1 optical zoom changes the image size through the lens, while vertical lens shift of V±130% and horizontal shift of H±53% move the image without relying on digital correction, according to JMGO. The company also says the gimbal offers Wiimote-like control.

For games, variable refresh rate — matching the display’s timing to the console or computer — is paired with ALLM, an automatic low-latency mode intended to reduce delay. JMGO adds Dolby Vision HDR, a high-dynamic-range video format, at 4K 120Hz. The combination is aimed at fast-moving sports and gaming.

So what changes in practice? Buyers outside China can preorder a bright, high-refresh projector that should be easier to aim at a screen, with a scheduled ship date of October 19th. But peak brightness is not automatically peak picture quality: Thomas Ricker of The Verge found the earlier JMGO N3 Ultimate unwatchable at maximum brightness because of color distortion and advises waiting for reviews of the Iris Ultra Max. Its eventual list price is $3,499.
