Lenovo’s sub-10mm laptop concept uses solid-state cooling
Less than 10mm thick and under 830g, Lenovo’s 14-inch Project AeroBlade is a concept laptop built for IFA 2026. The machine uses solid-state cooling from Frore instead of traditional fans, with AirJet technology at its core.
AirJet uses piezoelectric membranes to force air through the chassis without fans or other moving parts. That gives the AeroBlade active cooling, while The Verge describes it as nearly as quiet as a MacBook Air.
The dimensions become clearer beside Lenovo’s reference point: recent ThinkPad X1 Carbon laptops are around 14mm thick at their thickest and weigh about 1kg / 2.2 pounds. The AeroBlade is specified at less than 10mm and under 1.8 pounds / 830g.
Frore’s technology has been around for a few years, and the company has demonstrated possible uses in a webcam, an iPad, a 2-in-1 Windows convertible, an especially small mini PC and a Steam Deck. Yet, beyond a handful of specialized devices, AirJet has not made it into many shipping products. Lenovo’s laptop remains a concept rather than a broadly available machine.
Concretely, the target is clear for people who want a thinner, lighter laptop: a 14-inch PC under 830g and less than 10mm thick that still has active cooling without fans. For now, Lenovo is announcing that design for IFA 2026; the concept shows what AirJet can fit inside, not when it will reach a shipping product.
