Renault Filante offers up to 34 safety features in Korea

When the engine is switched off in Renault Korea’s new Filante crossover, two interior radar sensors keep watching. If they detect movement suggesting that a passenger, child or pet may have been left inside, the vehicle warns the driver. That feature sits within a package of up to 34 advanced driver-assistance and safety systems.

At the center is Active Driver Assist. It monitors surrounding traffic, adjusts speed and distance from other cars, keeps the Filante centered in its lane and supports automatic lane changes. Emergency steering assist can also support evasive steering when the vehicle detects a car, pedestrian or another obstacle in its path, under specified speed and road conditions.

The trade-off is noticeable at the wheel. Some drivers may find the Filante’s steering corrections and collision warnings more sensitive than expected. Renault Korea presents that behavior as intentional: detecting potential danger earlier should give drivers more time to respond, rather than waiting until a collision is unavoidable.

Protection continues beyond the electronics. The Filante uses 24 hot press forming components, representing 18 percent of its body structure. The process heats steel before pressing and rapidly cooling it; Renault Korea says the resulting parts have two to three times the strength of conventional steel components, helping limit cabin deformation in a crash.

For drivers, the practical change is a car that intervenes more often before and during a dangerous event, while also checking the cabin after shutdown. For emergency responders, Renault’s QRescue code provides access to information about structural reinforcements and other key components; the company says scanning it can shorten rescue times by up to 15 minutes. The safety figures and rescue-time estimate come from Renault Korea, and driver reactions remain mixed around the system’s assertive settings.
