BYD sells 4.8 kW solar kits through Brazil dealerships

A solar panel is no longer confined to a specialist installer’s showroom at BYD’s Brazilian dealerships. The company has started selling 4.8 kW solar kits through its 233 dealerships, offering consumers a package that includes the equipment, installation, utility approval and one year of insurance.

Each kit contains eight 600 W photovoltaic modules, an inverter, mounting structure, cables and connectors. BYD estimates average generation of around 600 kWh per month, while warning that output depends on operating conditions and available solar resources. The modules are manufactured at BYD’s photovoltaic facility in Campinas, in São Paulo state.

The offer is deliberately separate from car ownership. It is available to all consumers, including people who drive vehicles made by other manufacturers. The launch coincides with the Song Pro Flex hybrid SUV, whose buyers can finance a kit through Banco Santander in 36 fixed installments of BRL 512, with no down payment or interest; the IOF tax and registration fee are separate charges.

So what changes in practice? A consumer can approach a BYD dealership for a single solar offer rather than arrange the panels, installation and utility approval as separate purchases. Existing BYD owners and non-BYD customers can also seek Santander financing, with monthly interest rates starting at 1.69%, depending on the transaction terms.

The move connects three parts of BYD’s Brazilian business: domestic module manufacturing, distributed solar generation and electric mobility. The company has not provided independent performance data or figures for installations completed, so the generation estimate remains a manufacturer projection tied to local conditions rather than a guarantee for every site.
