IM Motors opens L6 pre-sales with claimed 850-km CLTC range
At 10:00 a.m. on August 19, another 100 places will open for IM Motors' new Jimmy Choo edition. The SAIC Motor electric-vehicle brand began pre-sales for the revamped L6 sedan on August 18, offering up to 850 kilometers of CLTC range and a first limited batch of 1,000 units.
The car comes in three regular variants, priced after pre-sales incentives from 219,900 yuan to 269,900 yuan. The two Prof. Jimmy Choo Bespoke Limited Edition versions are priced at 234,900 yuan and 249,900 yuan. Malaysian-born footwear designer Jimmy Choo was appointed bespoke design master for the new-generation L6 on August 7, according to IM Motors.
The hardware stays focused on electric performance. Every version uses IM Motors' new-generation NEO electrical and electronic architecture and an 800-volt high-voltage platform. Maximum charging power reaches 396 kW, which the company says can add 580 kilometers of range in 15 minutes. The range figures use the CLTC test cycle: the Max reaches 725 kilometers, the Pro Max 850 kilometers and the all-wheel-drive Ultra 840 kilometers.
The limited editions change the presentation more than the mechanics. They keep the same powertrain and chassis hardware as the regular cars, adding six exterior colors, a crystal-inlaid rear badge and a bespoke blue cabin inspired by the blue satin shoes Jimmy Choo designed for Princess Diana. The L6 also brings four-wheel steer-by-wire — electronic control of the steering rather than a conventional mechanical connection — with rear wheels able to turn by up to 18 degrees in either direction.
So what changes for a buyer? Less charging time on paper, a choice between long-range rear-wheel drive and a 500-kW all-wheel-drive model, and a claimed turning radius of 4.39 meters. Driver assistance, developed with Momenta, supports navigation-assisted driving without high-definition maps. But IM Motors provides the range, charging and performance figures, and the car is entering a segment that already includes numerous domestic automakers and Tesla's Model 3.
