Leapmotor enters Argentina with two range-extender SUVs
A new electric-car contender has arrived in Argentina with a familiar advantage: a ready-made service network. Stellantis-backed Leapmotor entered the market on August 18 with two range-extended electric crossovers, the B10 and C10, priced between 31,990 and 35,500 USD.
The cars are EREVs — range-extended electric vehicles. Their 1.5-liter internal-combustion engines work as generators, sending energy to LFP batteries. The B10 uses an 18.8 kWh battery and can travel up to 95 km in electric mode, while the C10 carries a 28.4 kWh pack and offers 170 km of NEDC electric range. Both use an electric motor with peak power of 158 kW (212 hp).
Leapmotor is not building its Argentine presence from scratch. It will use 12 sales outlets and 20 after-sales points in the existing Stellantis network. Owners can also receive basic maintenance at more than 300 Stellantis after-sales service outlets, extending the reach of a brand that is entering the country with just two models.
The timing reflects a market that is moving quickly. Around 10,800 electric cars — including 5,600 plug-in hybrids and 4,200 battery EVs — were sold in Argentina during the first half of 2026. BYD controls 89% of the local EV market so far this year, and its nearby offerings include the Yuan Up DM-i at 33,990 USD and the Song Pro DM-i between 35,490 and 37,490 USD.
So what changes in practice? Argentine buyers now have two more electrified SUVs in a price band already occupied by BYD, with access to a large Stellantis service footprint. Leapmotor’s immediate limit is range of choice: unlike BYD, it has not yet matched a lineup spanning SUVs, a pickup truck and smaller electric cars. The competition starts with distribution and pricing, but the next test will be how quickly Leapmotor can expand beyond the B10 and C10.
