WETOX is bringing a portable vehicle-to-load adapter to EVs that were not sold with native V2L capability. The D2 uses the vehicle’s existing charge port and is designed for Tesla models, Ford Mustang Mach-E and other compatible vehicles. The campaign includes NACS, CCS1 and CCS2 variants for North American, European and other markets.

The adapter is built around weather protection and software control. WETOX lists IPX5 protection for the connector and main unit, and IPX6 for the 10 ft (3m) extension power strip. Its smartphone app can set discharge limits, power-off timers and diagnostics. The company also says the D2 avoids triggering Tesla’s battery heating mechanism, which it links to unnecessary battery use and phantom drain.

WETOX reports a 13-hour uncut stress test under a continuous 3600W max load, taking the vehicle battery from 93% down to 19%. It says the D2 was as much as 40% more efficient than other V2L adapter brands. These are company-reported results rather than independently verified findings in the supplied source.

The technical claim with the widest significance is the device’s reported certification milestone: SGS issued what WETOX describes as the world’s first ISO 15118-20 certification report for next-generation V2X communication. The source also states that current vehicle limitations cap the D2 at ISO 15118-2, so the newer protocol report does not mean every compatible vehicle can use the full standard today.

And so, concretely? Owners of supported EVs could use the car as a mobile power source for tools, camping equipment or essential appliances without replacing the vehicle. The immediate opportunity is still limited: the product was being offered through a Kickstarter campaign, which had attracted over $120,000 and was set to run through August 30th. The source does not say that the D2 is in mass production or deployed with users at scale.
