Fang Cheng Bao opens Formula S pre-orders at 230,000 yuan

The lights of the 2026 Chengdu Auto Show have barely come on when Fang Cheng Bao’s next move is already visible: the BYD brand has opened pre-orders for the Formula S and Formula S GT, priced from 230,000 to 280,000 yuan. They are the brand’s first sedan-line models, with the Formula S presented as a four-door liftback and the GT as a station wagon. Deliveries are expected to begin in early September, according to CarNewsChina.

Fang Cheng Bao began as BYD’s rugged off-road brand, with its Bao series, before adding the urban-focused Tai series. Formula S adds a more conventional electric-car shape. The model measures 5,060 mm long, 1,967 mm wide and 1,483 mm high, with a 2,960 mm wheelbase. The GT follows the same broad proportions and adds a larger trunk and an electrically powered tow hook.

Under the body, buyers can choose rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Single-motor versions are rated at 245 kW or 300 kW; the dual-motor setup combines a 190 kW front motor with a 300 kW rear motor. Battery options are 76.744 kWh and 92.093 kWh LFP packs, with CLTC range figures — the test-cycle figures used for these models — reaching 900 km. The lineup is also slated to use BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery and Flash Charging.

The numbers are not yet a single, settled specification sheet. CnEVPost reports a lineup range from 730 kilometers to 900 kilometers, while CarNewsChina lists five options: 730 km, 750 km, 770 km, 830 km, and 900 km. Its separate breakdown gives one Formula S version 720 km, and describes the GT’s rear-wheel-drive range as 800 – 850 km. The full specifications are expected after the Chengdu show, so equipment and configuration will matter as much as the headline maximum.

So what changes for drivers? Fang Cheng Bao is putting a large electric liftback and a wagon within reach of customers who may not want an off-road vehicle, while retaining all-wheel drive, fast-charging technology and a choice of battery sizes. The models are still at the pre-order stage; the overseas markets mentioned for them remain a possibility under the Denza brand, not a confirmed rollout.
