Ola S1Z launches with 301 km claimed range

At ₹79,999, Ola Electric’s new S1Z is now open for bookings in India, putting a claimed 179 km IDC range behind its smaller 3.1 kWh battery. The larger 5.1 kWh version costs ₹99,999 and is claimed to reach 301 km. The first deliveries are expected in December 2026; the bigger-battery model is due in March 2027.

The S1Z uses Ola Electric’s in-house 46-series LFP Bharat Cell. LFP means lithium iron phosphate, a battery chemistry the company is bringing to this scooter range for the first time. Both versions have a top speed of 70 kmph, according to YourStory.

The cells were developed at Ola Electric’s Battery Innovation Centre and manufactured at its Ola Gigafactory, Inc42 reported. Ola says making the cells in-house has reduced battery costs, helping it offer LFP technology at a lower price. Chairman Bhavish Aggarwal also said the company built the cell, motor, vehicle, software and every critical component in-house.

That is the practical shift behind the launch. Instead of treating a lower-priced scooter as a version with less range and technology—a trade-off Aggarwal explicitly criticized—Ola is presenting the S1Z as an affordable product with the same in-house battery approach as its broader vehicle stack. The company’s stated target is India’s mass-market electric two-wheeler segment.
