Xiaomi launches 3 wearables under ₩100,000 in Korea
The first thing people notice at a smartwatch store is the price tag. On the 31st, Xiaomi Korea unveiled the Redmi Watch 6 Lite, Redmi Watch 6 Active and Xiaomi Smart Band 11 Active, expanding the range of wearable options in South Korea to ₩39,800, ₩54,800 and ₩84,800. Preorders will run from the 1st through the 6th of next month.
The three products differ in price and purpose. The Watch 6 Lite features standalone GNSS, allowing it to record outdoor workout routes without a smartphone. The Watch 6 Active focuses on everyday functions such as Bluetooth calling, while the Smart Band 11 Active emphasizes its approximately 18g weight and up to 21 days of battery life.
Xiaomi already sold smartwatches in the ₩200,000 and ₩400,000 price ranges, but this launch brings its smartwatch lineup down to the ₩50,000 range. In the smartband category, it has added a ₩39,800 model below the Smart Band 10 in the ₩60,000 range and the Smart Band 10 Pro in the ₩90,000 range.
Huawei Korea also launched the Band 11 and Band 11 Pro on the same day at ₩74,900 and ₩98,900, respectively. Both products offer health management features including heart rate variability and sleep tracking, while the Pro model features standalone GNSS for recording outdoor workout routes without a smartphone. Huawei plans to participate as an official sponsor of SMTOWN RUN CLUB 26 in Incheon and operate an experience zone.
What changes, then, is the barrier to a first purchase. According to Omdia, Xiaomi ranked first in global wearable shipments last year with an 18% share, followed by Apple at 17%, Huawei at 16% and Samsung Electronics at 9%.
