Meta is rolling out Pocket, an AI app for making games
Tilt a phone, tap the screen, and a tiny game responds. Meta’s Pocket app is now rolling out to everyone in the U.S., letting people use AI prompts to generate small interactive games and publish them in a scrollable feed.
These creations, called “gizmos,” can react to touch and the phone’s tilt, play sound effects, and include clips of a user’s favorite songs. They can also use photos from the camera roll or access the camera, according to TechCrunch’s account of the app.
The social loop is built into the format. Once a game is published on a profile, other people can save it, remix it into another creation, or repost it. Pocket first arrived quietly in Brazil last month, before the broader U.S. rollout.
The app comes from Meta’s acqui-hire of the team behind Gizmo, a vibe-coded gaming platform, earlier this year. It follows Meta’s AI image-generation tools, the experimental AI video app Vibes, and other standalone apps including Instagram Instants, Forum and Seller.
So what changes in practice? Pocket lowers the starting point for making a playable digital object: users begin with a prompt rather than a conventional game-development workflow, then add personal media and distribute the result through a feed. Meta’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg has linked the company’s faster app output to AI-enabled software development, but the available reporting does not establish how many people use Pocket or how well its games perform.
