Denza Z9 GT reaches 721.85 kW at French charger

The cable is plugged in, in Saint-Flour, and power climbs beyond what the charger promises on its display. Song Yu, an engineer at BYD France, recorded 721.85 kW with a Denza Z9 GT at an Atlante charger rated at 600 kW. The figure reportedly fluctuated between 560 and 722 kW during the session.

The performance was not limited to a peak lasting just a few seconds. According to Song Yu, the Denza went from 47% to 80% in four minutes, recovering 43 kWh. The engineer also claims that the car maintained very high power up to 90% charge. Automobile Propre says it does not have detailed figures for the full charging curve.

The result suggests that the limit has shifted: in this configuration, the car appears capable of accepting more power than the infrastructure can deliver. BYD says the Denza Z9 GT could theoretically receive up to 1,500 kW with suitable equipment. For now, only the brand's Flash Charging stations are advertised as capable of delivering that kind of power.

So what does that mean in practice? Very fast charging could reduce the time spent stopped during a long journey, provided a compatible charger is available and power remains high throughout the session. With its Flash Charging system, BYD claims a 10% to 70% charge in five minutes and a 10% to 97% charge in nine minutes, but these figures have not yet been established on Europe's public charging network.

The Saint-Flour scene is therefore a technical signal, not yet a normal part of the driving experience. The reported measurement came from a session conducted by a BYD engineer, and its replication at publicly accessible chargers remains to be demonstrated. The manufacturer plans to deploy 3,000 Flash Charging stations by the end of 2026 in Europe; their availability will show whether this level of power can become part of everyday use.
