Roborock unveils garden and pool-cleaning robots
A robot that used to mop floors is heading for the gardens and pools of Berlin, Germany. Roborock will unveil a pool-cleaning robot and a robotic lawn mower at IFA2026, which opens on the 4th local time, expanding automation beyond indoor floors to areas outside the home.
The company will also introduce new indoor products. The flagship S10 MaxV Ultra Steam touts steam mopping and suction power of up to 36,000 pascals (㎩). It can cross double thresholds up to 8.8 cm high and recognize more than 300 types of objects, adapting its cleaning routes and responses to the residential environment. The F25 Ultra Steam Gen2 uses steam at up to 180 degrees and hot water, based on its internal heater, and has been certified to remove more than 99.99% of bacteria.
The key to the outdoor products is transferring indoor-validated localization and route-planning technology to different environments. The pool-cleaning robot moves across floors and walls, along the waterline and through shallow areas, detecting debris. The robotic lawn mower uses lidar and cameras to identify garden boundaries and obstacles, defining its working area without installing separate boundary lines.
The specific change is that the map of cleaning is becoming larger. Inside the home, floors are the target of cleaning; outside, pool maintenance and lawn care become repetitive tasks to be handled. Ricky Ma, Roborock’s head of Europe and the Americas, said the goal was “to automate repetitive tasks and give customers more time back.” Roborock ranked No. 1 in the global robot vacuum market by both shipments and sales value in the first half of 2026 and is seeking to extend its accumulated technology to outdoor tasks.
Competition is moving in the same direction. Dreame will unveil a robotic lawn mower that uses lidar, satellite navigation and artificial intelligence to recognize people, animals and obstacles, while Ecovacs will introduce pool-, window- and lawn-cleaning robots. DJI will also debut a robot vacuum using autonomous driving technology in the European market. However, what has been confirmed at this stage is the product unveiling at IFA and the functions and certifications presented by the companies. Actual performance in outdoor and underwater environments should be judged separately from the published specifications.
