Robot dog runs routine metro patrols in Shenzhen
At Qianhaiwan station in Shenzhen, a four-legged robot patrols fully automatically every two hours, seven days a week. It checks gates, escalators, lights and fire-protection equipment, while an AI model flags anomalies. Yuejia Dynamics says this is the first quadruped inspection robot to operate routinely in a Chinese metro, and that the project has passed full-scenario validation ahead of wider rollout.
The startup, founded in July 2025, showed four models at this year's World Robot Conference. They include two industrial robots rated for 35 kg-plus payloads and IP67 protection for power plants and chemical facilities, along with smaller wheeled and legged units carrying 15 kg for indoor environments. All use in-house hardware and algorithms, according to Yuejia.
According to Yuejia, the industrial robots can handle a 55-degree slope, 60-cm obstacles, 20-to-30-cm stairs and provide four-to-five hours of endurance. Their self-developed low-reduction-ratio joint delivers 180 N·m peak torque and 1.3 times the power density of peers, the company says. 4G and 5G modules let users watch inspection status in real time and adjust tasks remotely.
Concretely, for metro teams, the use case is a scheduled inspection loop: at Qianhaiwan, the robot repeats it every two hours, flags anomalies through an AI model and sends its status for remote oversight. The current deployment is at that station; Yuejia says the project has passed validation ahead of a wider rollout.
Yuejia wants to benchmark the metro deployment, standardize it and replicate it across metro networks, power facilities and emergency services. Production is ramping in the Greater Bay Area, with the company targeting annual capacity of 10,000 units by the end of October. It also says its embodied-AI training and simulation platform runs large parallel training on modest compute at about a fifth of rivals' cost, while humanoid-robot technology is in preparation.
