Genesis' first ultra-large electric flagship took the stage at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. The company unveiled the GV90 worldwide for the first time. Developed from the Neolun concept shown in 2024, it is slated to launch in South Korea this year. It is the first model to be produced at Hyundai Motor Group's dedicated electric vehicle plant in Ulsan.

The vehicle is built around a flagship-specific eMP platform and a 123.5kWh ternary battery. It uses Samsung SDI's battery with 91% nickel content, and Genesis claims a range of 500 km on a single charge. The Electronic Times reported that it has the largest battery capacity among the large electric vehicles unveiled by Hyundai Motor and Kia. However, the reported range was based on South Korean testing standards in one article and research institute testing standards in another.

Charging is based on a 350 kW-class rapid charger. Genesis says the battery can be filled from 10% to 80% in 22 minutes. The vehicle also delivers a combined maximum output of 490 kW and peak torque of 800 Nm, while featuring a multi-chamber air suspension and active rear-wheel steering.

Genesis has also sought to differentiate the vehicle through its doors and interior. It uses the Neolun Arch Gate, independently opening coach doors without B-pillars, along with an ultra-high-strength dual steel beam and hidden roll-cage structure. PLEOS Connect, which includes a pop-up center OLED display of up to 24.6 inches and the Gleo AI artificial intelligence agent, serves as the software-centered automotive interface.

What, then, will change for buyers? The GV90 offers a large battery aimed at long-distance travel and a short rapid-charging time, while bringing the space of a large SUV and a premium-brand experience to an electric vehicle. However, the price has not yet been announced. Actual sales will begin in South Korea this year before expanding to the U.S. in 2027. The announced range and charging time come from the manufacturer, and reports differ on the testing standard used for the range.
