MG Hector Tomahawk EV deliveries start in India in September
The order book is open in India, and the first MG Hector Tomahawk EVs are due to reach customers in September 2026. MG India has set the starting price at 1,399,000 Indian rupees (14,675 USD), with a battery rental plan adding 4.9 rupees (5 cents) per kilometer. The name is new; the underlying vehicle is SAIC’s global version of the Wuling Starlight 560, launched in China in January 2026.
Under the body sits a single electric motor rated at 150 kW (201 hp) and 310 Nm, powered by a 69.2 kWh battery. The published specification gives it 517 km of range. DC charging can take the pack from 30 to 80% in 35 minutes, using charging power of up to 90 kW. The compromise is at home: the single-phase AC charger supports only 7 kW.
The Hector Tomahawk is a mid-size SUV measuring 4745/1850/1770 mm, with a 2,810 mm wheelbase and five- or seven-seat layouts. The two-row version has 610 liters of trunk space; the seven-seater has 528 liters with the third row folded. Both versions come with a 15.35-inch center display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an Infinity sound system, wireless phone charging, gesture and voice controls, a surround-view camera and L2 assisted driving.
That puts the practical gain in a clear place: Indian buyers can order a family-sized EV with a listed 517 km range, while choosing whether the lower upfront price of the battery rental plan suits their driving. The charging figures also set expectations—longer trips can use DC charging, but a 7 kW home connection will not deliver the same speed. Deliveries have not yet begun.
The plug-in hybrid Hector Tomahawk broadens the lineup rather than replacing the EV. It combines a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine rated at 78 kW (105 hp) with a 148 kW (198 hp) electric motor and a 20.5 kWh battery, offering 115 km in electric mode and a combined range of 1,100 km. Its starting price is 2,179,000 Indian rupees (22,860 USD), with a 3.2-rupee (3-cent) charge per kilometer.
