A Leapmotor B05 appears during Euro NCAP’s latest test round, alongside the Aion UT and Geely E2. On September 3, 2026, all three models from China received the programme’s maximum five-star safety rating under its new 2026 assessment protocols.

The stars sit on top of a more detailed scorecard. The Aion UT scored 66% for safe driving, 74% for crash avoidance, 91% for crash protection and 88% for post-crash safety. The Geely E2 reached 79%, 72%, 86% and 95% in those categories, while the Leapmotor B05 scored 66%, 77%, 92% and 89%. The Cupra Raval received four stars with standard equipment, then five with its optional Safety Pack.

The fine print separates the three Chinese models. Euro NCAP found that the Aion UT relies heavily on its central touchscreen for driving controls, and its speed-limit recognition system recorded 68% accuracy; it also lacks child presence detection. The Geely E2 uses physical controls and includes standard Child Presence Detection, although its automatic emergency braking was inconsistent. The B05 excelled in crash protection and automatic emergency braking, but lacks an adaptive restraint system and more physical switches for infotainment controls.

Concretely, European consumers now have Euro NCAP results for three more Chinese models when assessing vehicle safety. The tests also show where the practical compromises may be: touchscreen controls, driver-assistance performance and equipment that is missing or reserved for an option pack.

The results arrive as Chinese-manufactured vehicles account for 7% of all new-car sales in the European Union and nearly 10% in the UK. Since 2021, the number of Chinese models submitted for Euro NCAP testing has increased nearly tenfold. “Today’s results clearly demonstrate that Chinese carmakers are still working hard to match the high standards expected by European consumers,” said Dr. Aled Williams, Euro NCAP’s Programme Director.
